Electrical  |  Power Save |  Carrier Automatic Home Standy Generator

Arundel Cooling and Heating is now proud to offer Power-Save, the innovative new “energy saving ” device that could save you hundreds of dollars on your monthly electric bill. Not only that, but the Power-Save device can provide a whole host of other benefits to your home, such as power surge protection, increase in appliance life, and environmental benefits.

What is Power-Save?

The Power-Save is a bank of capacitors, which collect unused or lost energy during the start-up and shutdown of various inductive systems in your home. Some examples of these inductive systems are A/C units, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc. The device itself consists of a small gray box installed next to your existing circuit breaker panel.

How Does Power-Save Work?

The Power-Save works by fine-tuning electrical systems in your home by reducing electrical energy waste, using a process known as “power-factor optimization”. This process re-uses inductive energy that is normally lost by inductive motors in your home.

The “power-factor” refers to the percentage of electricity delivered to your home that is efficiently used, compared to the amount of energy that is wasted or lost. A home with a power factor of 1.0 uses 100% of the incoming energy. Most homes have a power-factor of about .77 or less, but the Power-Save can increase your home’s power-factor to .98.

To increase your home’s power-factor, the Power-Save reduces the amount of reactive power that the energy load draws from the utility company.

When you turn on an electrical device in your home, the device requires a surge of energy from the utilities generator. Power-Save stores the energy that is lost upon shutdown of your appliances, and re-uses it when the appliances are turned back on the next time. This saves energy from being lost and wasted, saving you money on your electric bill, while simultaneously protecting your home’s appliances from unnecessary wear and tear.

How Long Does Power-Save Last?

The expected lifespan of a Power-Save 1200, which is the typical residential model, is about 20 years. Not only that, but if you are ever to move, the Power-Save can be easily brought with you to your new home.
